Honestly I would recommend deleting and reinstalling the game based on the info provided.

Based on an older post from the programmer, they recommend ensuring you don't let the game idle on the title screen. I would highly recommend putting in a back up ticket with 2K Back up so that they can expect into the problem as is sounds similar an outstanding developer issue.
Other than that, the only recommendations I can notice are to uninstall/reinstall. Based on other forums, players accept had to restart the game a few times due to a corrupted save file.

TBH, the WWE 2K games have been an absolute mess for years and they don't bother to improve annihilation that tin make a real difference. I've had it wipe out in nearly every iteration since they changed to the 2k series.
